Created by Team Salty Jeans and inspired by eight-year-old Olivia, who receives care at Children’s Mercy for cystic fibrosis.

This season, we’re sharing that same spirit of hope and comfort through Gifts of Courage — special care packs delivered to children spending the holidays in the hospital. Each pack features Olivia’s artwork and an encouraging message — a reminder that courage comes in all shapes and sizes.

Olivia’s Art & Story

Olivia knows what it’s like to spend long days at the hospital, from early morning tests to full days of appointments and treatments. During those visits, she often brings her favorite art supplies to pass the time. When we shared the idea of creating something special for other kids at Children’s Mercy, she immediately started sketching bright colors and cheerful messages to help others feel brave too.

Every Gift of Courage pack includes Olivia’s artwork, turned into cards, magnets, bookmarks, and stickers, each carrying a bit of her creativity and heart.

What is the Gifts of Courage campaign?

Gifts of Courage is a holiday initiative from Team Salty Jeans to deliver care packs to children at Children’s Mercy Hospital. Each pack includes comforting, creative, and playful items — all featuring artwork by Olivia, who receives CF care at Children’s Mercy. The goal is simple: to brighten hospital stays and celebrate courage in every form.

Why is this campaign important?

Each year, thousands of children spend their holidays in the hospital. Our family wanted to bring a bit of warmth and color to their days — and to honor the courage of kids like Olivia who face cystic fibrosis and other health challenges with so much strength.

How much does it cost to sponsor a pack?

You can sponsor one Gift of Courage pack for $20, three packs for $50, or six packs for $80. Each sponsorship helps cover supplies, packaging, and delivery to Children’s Mercy in December.

Can I donate a different amount?

Absolutely! You can give any amount — every dollar helps us create and deliver more Gifts of Courage. Your support directly impacts how many children we can reach this holiday season.

Where does my donation go?

Funds first go toward creating and delivering Gifts of Courage to children at Children’s Mercy. Proceeds beyond those costs are donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to support vital research and care programs.

What’s inside a Gift of Courage pack?

Each pack includes a combination of cozy, creative, and playful items — fuzzy socks, mini notepads, pop-it keychains, and Olivia’s artwork as cards, magnets, or bookmarks. Every pack is thoughtfully assembled to bring smiles and encouragement to children at the hospital.

Who receives the packs?

All Gifts of Courage packs are delivered to inpatient and long-term outpatient children at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.

When will the packs be delivered?

The Salty Jeans family and volunteers will hand-deliver all Gifts of Courage on December 12, 2025, just in time for the holidays.

Can I help pack or deliver the Gifts of Courage?

Our family and local volunteers handle packing this year, but we plan to expand volunteer opportunities in future campaigns. You can join our email list to be the first to know when new volunteer spots open!

Can businesses or groups sponsor packs together?
